Upcoming EventsCFL FootballSunday, November 23rd is the Grey Cup starting at 3:00. Come down to the Clubhouse and cheer on the West or the east as they battle it out in Montreal for the championship. For the Grey Cup we will have pools, appies and a great time. Commodore's Cocktails December 7Sunday, December 7th between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm, Marlon will be welcoming all members at the Clubhouse to join him and lift a glass to toast the holiday season. Come out and wish your fellow members the best of the season. Christmas Sailpast December 13The Annual Festival of Lights will be on Saturday, December 13th. Decorate your boat with Christmas lights. Invite your friends to join you on a leisurely cruise down the Nickomekl River. Wave to the spectators on shore that always turn out to see our club's spectacle. There will be a brief skippers meeting at 2:30 pm at the Clubhouse to finalize VHF channels, course to follow, boat order, etc. Cruise up the river with your guests at your leisure and raft up or anchor in the boat basin. Lights on at 5:00 pm and follow each other (like little ducks) down the river. You will be back at the dock in time to drop into the Clubhouse and have a great dinner off the menu. Annual General MeetingMark your calendars for Sunday, January 11th, 2009 at 3:00 PM for the CBYC Annual General Meeting. We found the Sunday meeting worked well last year and are continuing it again this year. After the meeting you can hang around and have a special beef dip supper. Christmas HoursThe Clubhouse will be closed Christmas Day, December 25th and Boxing Day, December 26th. It will be open normal hours on Saturday and Sunday. The clubhouse will also be closed on Thursday, January 1 and open normal hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday Help NeededA great big THANKS to Sue Volmer for all the special functions she has put on at the Clubhouse over the last year or so. Now we are looking for a Functions Coordinator for 2009. This is a great job where you get to be on the Executive, plan the functions and recruit other members to help you put them on. This is one of the most rewarding jobs the club offers. Call or e-mail Marlon. SPMRS DanceYour local Coast Guard Auxiliary based at Crescent Beach Marina is having a dance on Saturday, November 29th at the Star Of The Sea hall in White Rock. This will ensure your name and boat will be included in next year's roster. The Seaweed is hereThe October Seaweed has been posted Here or you can always get it (and back copies as well) from the Seaweed page. Thanks to Sue McMurdo for creating it.
